LOGOS APOSTOLIC ORPHAN AID

Introduction
Logos Apostolic Orphan Aid is a function of Logos Apostolic Church of God caring for widows and orphan children. Orphans in the UK are taken care of by the welfare state, so all of our effort is to support orphans and widows in countries where there is no welfare state. In those other countries it is a function of Logos Apostolic Church of God in those countries, and they have many orphans and widows who are in need of help. HIV aids seems to be a very big producer of widows and orphans particularly in Africa, and also wars, but we obviously also expect to help widows and orphans from every cause. Since we started in 2006 we have not been able to cope with the numbers; we have helped where we can, but the need is very great. The widows and orphans shown in these pictures, as well as others, are supported as funds allow.
Until 2011 this was a charitable work operated by Roy Page and Logos Apostolic Church of God in UK, but was not governed by trustees, and did not function in the way that a charity would. In 2011 the organization began to transform as the need was so great that we started to make collections in England UK, and a treasurer was appointed to help. Since January 2012 Logos Apostolic Orphan Aid has been governed by 3 trustees and in April 2012 we adopted the Charity Commission of England and Wales' Model Constitution for an Unincorporated Charitable Association, with a few minor alterations. We have had a number of meetings to discuss and understand how to operate in line with the Charity Commission's recommendations, and we were registered with the Charity Commission of England and Wales in May 2012. They are now displaying our annual returns for the past four years on their website. You can see them by going to their site, clicking on "Find a Charity" and then typing our charity number in the charity search box. Our Registered Charity Number is 1147323.
The funds we get will help with food, clothes, shelter, for the widows and orphans, and a Christian education for the orphans where needed. At present we own no orphanages in Africa, although we have rented one in Sierra Leone since January 2014. Two are under construction in Pakistan but the building work is not funded by us, and there are some children's homes in India that we help. God severely rebuked Israel for not helping widows and orphans. This is what he told them to do in order to get their sin forgiven, "judge for the orphan, plead for the widow." (Isaiah 1:17), and this is what we are doing by putting up this website. Logos Apostolic Church of God is serious about doing what God has commanded. One of its objectives which is written in our Church constitution reads:
(j) To assist widows, orphans, needy people, and street children.
As impossible as it appears in the natural, we have taken on this task by faith in order to fulfil the words of Jesus Christ:
"For I was hungry, and you gave me food; I was thirsty, and you gave me drink; I was a stranger, and you took me in; without clothes, and you clothed me; ... For as much as you have done it to one of the least of these my brethren, you have done it to me." (Matthew 25:35-40).
The alternative is to meet him one day and hear these words:
"For I was hungry, and you did not give me food; I was thirsty, and you did not give me drink; I was a stranger, and you did not take me in; without clothes, and you did not clothe me; ... For as much as you have not done it to one of the least of these my brethren, you have not done it to me." (Matthew 25:42-45).
The difference can affect our eternal destination:
"And these will go away into everlasting punishment; but the righteous into eternal life." (Matthew 25:46).
